  • 5 Simple Rules for Betting Responsibly

Even the best predictions lose sometimes. The people who enjoy football betting for years are the ones who manage their money well. These five rules are simple, and they work.

    1. Set a budget first

Decide how much you can afford to lose this week or month before you place a bet. Treat it as the cost of entertainment, never as money you need.

    2. Use a fixed stake

Bet the same small amount on each tip, for example 2 to 5% of your budget. A fixed stake stops one bad day from wiping out your whole budget.

    3. Never chase losses

After a losing day, it is tempting to bet more to win it back. Don't. Stick to your stake, and remember that tomorrow is a new day.

    4. Keep accumulators small

Every extra game in an accumulator makes it harder to win. Our 3 odds and 5 odds slips are built from our most confident picks, but singles and doubles win far more often.

    5. Take breaks

If betting stops being fun, stop. Take a day, a week or longer away. If you feel you are losing control, free help is available from GambleAware and GamCare.

Bet with your head, not with your heart, and only ever bet what you can afford to lose.

  • How to Read Our Football Predictions: Tips, Odds and Confidence

Every prediction on TipStadium is shown in the same table. Once you know what each column means, you can read any page on the site in seconds.

    Time

The kick-off time in your local time zone. During a match it shows the minute (for example 59') with a red dot, and after the final whistle it shows FT.

    League, Home and Away

The competition and the two teams. During and after the match, the score appears between the team names.

    Tip

Our pick for the match. 1 means a home win, X a draw and 2 an away win. 1X means home win or draw, X2 means away win or draw. You will also see tips like Over 2.5, BTTS (both teams to score) and Under 3.5.

    Odds

The bookmaker price for our tip. Odds of 1.50 mean a 1,000 stake returns 1,500 if the tip wins. Lower odds mean the bookmakers also think the tip is likely.

    Conf.

Our confidence: the estimated chance, in percent, that the tip wins. Green is high (80% or more), blue is good (65 to 79%) and orange is fair (below 65%).

    Colours after the match

When a match is finished, a green line on the left means the tip won and a red line means it lost. Every tip is graded on our results page, so you can always check our record.

Remember: a prediction is an estimate, not a guarantee. Bet only what you can afford to lose.

  • What Does Over 2.5 Goals Mean? A Simple Guide

Over 2.5 goals is one of the simplest and most popular bets in football. You are not picking a winner. You are betting on how many goals the match will have in total.

When does over 2.5 goals win?

The bet wins when the match ends with three or more goals in total, counting both teams. A 2-1, 3-0 or 2-2 result wins. A 1-1, 2-0 or 0-0 result loses. Only the 90 minutes plus stoppage time count: extra time and penalties are not included.

    Why "2.5"?

There is no such thing as half a goal, so the .5 makes sure there is never a draw on the bet. Over 2.5 simply means "three goals or more", and under 2.5 means "two goals or fewer".

How we pick over 2.5 tips

We look at how many goals both teams score and concede, their recent form, head-to-head results and the bookmaker odds. A match makes our over 2.5 list when the numbers point clearly to an open game, for example two attacking sides or a strong team playing a weak defence.

    A quick tip

Over 2.5 goals usually pays better odds than over 1.5 goals, but it loses more often. If you want a safer option, look at over 1.5 goals. If you want bigger odds, look at over 3.5 goals.

Whatever you choose, set a budget before you bet and stick to it.
